Mishiro-san and I spoke about many interesting things while we were separated by chemicals and science apparatus. We shared stories from our very different cultures while both working on the fundamental unit that makes up everyone – cells. On his last day, he wore a suit to graduate and came into the lab to pass his cells on to the next researcher. I took this photo so that I have a visceral reminder of the joyful moments spent comparing our differences and similarities while trying to elucidate molecular mechanisms that we all have in us.
